Dr. June Won has been practicing in the West Houston and Katy area for over 20 years. She received her undergraduate degree in biology from the University of Texas at Austin and furthered her education by obtaining her Doctorate of Optometry degree from the University of Houston, College of Optometry. She also completed her clinical training under Dr. Mary Green /Eye Excellence with a concentration in anterior segment of the eye at St. Luke’s Hospital. She continued to further her clinical training under Dr. Rosa Tang for Neuro-Ophthalmology at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, St. Joseph’s Hospital and Houston Eye Associates.
In past years, she has been a member of the Texas Optometry Association, American Optometric Association, and The Optometric Business Academy. More recently, she is a founding member of Energeyes Association.
She has been practicing with her colleague Dr. Leeann Choe for the past 15 years who she believes shares her like-minded goal and heart to serve patients. She takes pride in promoting preventive eye care and health and preserving good vision through keeping the eyes healthy. This includes offering advanced technology through dilations, retinal photography, ocular imaging scans, and dry eye advanced testing. She also loves the topic of natural medicine and discussing alternative ways to keep the body healthy.
Dr. Won has received many numerous awards for patient care throughout the years. Her most recent award was presented to her by Walmart for the 2016 Southwest Region Doctor of the Year for excellence in patient care. She is often asked why she enjoys her office location next door to a commercial practice. "I love my job! I am very thankful that the Lord has placed me at PFE where we get to work as a team to help patients in a practical way that impacts every aspect of their lives. "
She feels her best asset is serving patients and this setting allows her to focus solely on patient care without any pressure to focus on the sales aspect of materials. She also enjoys serving and getting to know generations of families who are active in her own community and love where they live.
Outside the office she enjoys spending time with her friends and especially her husband Jay who she has known for over 30 years. Besides her God-given passion to “help the blind see” she loves to travel, cook, and sing. She is also often found cheering on her 3 college athletes and their teammates at swim meets.
